ONE PROVINCE, ONE SONG:
‘One Province, One Song’ («Մեկ Մարզ, Մեկ Երգ») is a project by the Argentinian-Armenian singer-songwriter Alin Demirdjian. The project aims to discover the diversity of the local musical scene and the cultural identity of each province (‘marz’) in Armenia and Artsakh.
HOGH KHONAV:
Hogh Khonav means soil or land. It is an Armenian ethnic-electronic musical project founded on October 1st, 2016 in Yerevan.
Hogh creates predominantly instrumental electronic works blended with ethnic and folk elements. According to the author, the inspiration for the project came from his deep desire of reviving the native roots among youngsters through music. Another mission was to present the world the Armenian musical instruments and let it hear the specific message reflected in each work. Hogh says, "A piece of the Armenian history is hidden behind my music, it's all about the power and the diligence of my people".
In October 2016 Hogh released its debut digital album called 'Khonav'. Inspired by the positive reactions of the folk, Hogh released another three albums ('Anmshak', 'Var', 'Artevor') within the years of 2016-2017. All four albums form a complete philosophy as each of them is the logical continuation of the previous one.
During the next years, Hogh released two more albums — 'Nihil' (ft. Tamara Khublaryan) and 'Banjar'.
ABOUT THE PROVINCE:
Armavir is a province (marz) in the western part of Armenia. The province's capital is the town of Armavir while the largest city is Vagharshapat (Etchmiadzin). The ancient city of Armavir was also the first capital of the kingdom of Armenia (331 BC until 210 BC).
The province is home to the spiritual centre of the Armenian nation; the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is the seat of the Catholicos of All Armenians. The province is also the site of the decisive Battle of Sardarabad in 1918 that resulted in the foundation of the Republic of Armenia. The battle is seen as a crucial historical event not only by stopping the Turkish advance into the rest of Armenia but also preventing the complete destruction of the Armenian nation. Also, the Zvartnots International Airport is located near the village of Parakar in Armavir Province.
Armavir has an area of 1,242 km2 (4.2% of total area of Armenia) making it the smallest province of the country in terms of the total area; and it has a population of 265,770 forming around 8.8% of the entire population of Armenia.
