Lighter, stiffer, and with revised geometry, the 2023 Scott Scale RC SL has everything to get a racer’s heart pounding. The key things to know are:

1. This 2023 update is lower, slacker and longer. Zero surprises there!

2. The head tube angle is 67.9 degrees, that, thanks to an angle adjust headset can be raked out by 0.6 degrees to 67.3 degrees

4. Scott says that the weight across all the carbon framed Scales has been reduced.
BUT that doesn’t mean weight loss was the main focus.

In this video, we’re going to run you through all of those changes and how this affects the bike out on the trail.

But do you like it? And would you have this super bling build? Let us know in the comments 👇

During our PDI check of the Scott Scale, we noticed the stem bolt cover was cracked. The cover isn’t integral to the handlebar or stem’s structure, and is easily replaceable. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get a replacement ahead of filming the video.

Have mine 940 carbon 2022 and just love that bike. Added a drop and nothing more. Enjoy ride it every single day

14k for hard tail, now that is insane.

I’ve got a Cube Reaction which weighs 8.2kg with two bottle cages, a spare tube and strap, plus a dropper post cost about half of that. I’m sticking with that.

My first xc marathon race course used the black DH trail for the downhill section. I probably would have died if my xc bike did not have a dropper.

We just got one in our association Pro cycling shillong, this bike is looking really amazing 😍 and the most surprising about this bike is, it's only one in our city🥰✨

I have a custom built Scott scale 940 that weighs 18.8lbs with pedals. Yeah yeah I know… It’s got outdated geometry and it ain’t HMX frame but I built this thing under $4k budget & still performs exceptionally well! Any hardtail over $8k is a madness IMHO

Just curious if the new scale compared to mondraker podium rr sl, both are feathery hardtail but heavy on budget 🤑

1) XC bike should be tested with clip-less peadals;
2) Previous generation also had HMX-SL version, was discontinued;
3) New frame probably does not have less material, weight savings come mostly from frame hardware.

Well it does look nice and I am sure it is a very good bike!!! Just like my "old" Scott Scale (2013).... When it comes to geometry I'm not sure if I want my XC Hardtail to be longer lower slacker?... The geo on my Scale feels perfectly fine, it is stable enough for single trails, marathon and XC and it is agile and fun to ride... Okay it is 10.2 kg with pedals but that is fine with me and when it comes to price 14k for a partial is down right crazy in my books... I've done my second "rebuild" last year and in total I haven't spent anywhere near 14k on it... So i'll stick with my old bike... ;-)

just bought second hand rc 900 sl 2018 L size / 8.54kg with s-works renegade tires and pedals for 3.600e ...there is no way to pay 14k for a bike

My Bianchi hardtail weighs around 9.02KG; it did not cost me 14 grand to build. What a stupid price for a bike, anyone buying this should be disciplined.

Do we really want 67 deg top tube angles? Asking as someone quite happy on a 69ish deg HTA XC rider (but, looking at a trail bike in the medium term...)
Cheers

For all you really old farts (like me) the integrated cockpit, big tubes and paint fade give me serious Klein Adroit vibes.

What about the wheels balance? Is it 100% spot on? And will be on every wheel? Can u balance them in any way?

No matter which Bike Kate chooses to race, her mechanic Brad will be muttering under his breath every time he has to service the headset, bottom bracket and shock.

Can you reverse the bars so they rise-up instead of down?
I need an upright riding position for bike packing & mooching around.
Even better; can I swap these bars for riser-bars ?? or a riser-stem ??
- thanks.
