Photographing In The Mist // and how to edit foggy photos

I woke up to find a white world outside. So I did what any sane photographer would do - I picked up my camera and headed into the mist!

This misty photowalk was a lot of fun. It was really eerie in parts. It was a challenge to edit as the contrast diminishes so much.

The first half of the video is my photowalk, and the second is a quick tutorial on how to edit misty photos.

I haven't had to be too concerned with mist and fog lately but in the summer (you remember summer) I had a constant battle with heat haze. I took a once in a lifetime trip to Cape Breton and Nova Scotia. It seemed like I was in permanent haze. I am still going through and processing my snaps now, reminding myself what a battle it was to get THAT perfect photo.

Don't know why I never saw your videos before, but I am glad I found you. I just bought my first 4/3 camera yesterday. I have been shooting with a Nikon D600 and I fell out of love with photography. It was no fun carrying a lump around all day. I am so excited to get out and shoot again after a 4 month break. Tonight however I plan on binge watching your videos. LOL

I can just imagine you as you were walking this morning, thinking... oooh ooh ooh I have to get some video shot, and some images taken so I can upload this to YouTube later today. Haha... It worked though eh. I particularly love the orange and teal type processing in the reflection in the mist shot at the end. Lovely stuff Emily.
