Land Rover Discovery 4. Interlock emergency release cable. Hidden manual neutral & hand brake..

My Land Rover Discovery 4 is automatic. Whilst doing some work on the engine I wondered how the vehicle could be recovered if the ignition was dead as the car automatically goes into “Park” mode when switched off. The selector retracts into its housing.
There is a hidden manual release called an interlock emergency cable release which allows you to put the car into neutral and lock it into neutral for emergency and recovery purposes.
I took a look at this and found that someone had used this release incorrectly on my car and had actually broken it. Therefore, if I was ever broken down it would make my car quite expensive and inconvenient to recover as it would be permanently in “Park”.
Here is how I changed the lever and cable.
This work calls for you to remove the upper centre console in the vehicle. It is a relatively easy job.

Hi Jimmy, today I replaced the cable in my Discovery 4. Another moron broke the lever before I bought the car. Relaying on your video I wasn't afraid to start and it was quick and successful. Thank you very much. ATB
