Excellent phone. Screen is excellent rather than overkill. A lot easier to hold than the s24 ultra and 15 pro max. Great audio quality including 3.5mm headphone socket and SD card slot. Battery life is insane- twice that if the Pixel 8a. And a camera that's a great experience producing natural photos.

The best of the Xperia 1 series by far. I have owned every single Xperia 1 handset and all the quirks and issues are AT LAST fixed. And I also own a S24 Ultra which is brilliant but the Xperia 1vi is superior in terms of sound quality and better in my experience for taking pictures.

I swapped the device for the 1V and I think it's great The camera is excellent.The telephoto camera is good for close objects such as portraits and of course the great macro mode However, the quality drops significantly for subjects further away and a lot of light is required.Overall, for me, it is the best camera smartphone. Because of the handling, the autofocus and because of the natural color reproduction. And most importantly, despite the quality, it is the camera that stands out the least from the smartphone.

Sony makes great phones. They are criminally underrated and unknown. Or at least they are an alternative (as in different) to your iPhone's and Galaxies). But that's also partly Sony's fault because they really don't market them, nor do they make them available in many countries.

Feels like the telephoto is more suited for that portrait experience rather than reachability. That said I'm already waiting for bigger sensor for this one just so we can get cleaner nicer looking zoom. Otherwise, almost there.

i am not able to use the stepless zoom during video recording, did i hear that correctly? if so, that’s a huge dealbreaker

Optical zoom is impressive if I use tripod, handheld zoom is still not good enough. Image is somehow composed with small visable pixelated blocks if I zoom in. And for some reason, the auto mode has better noise reduction than PRO P/S/M modes

If you have never owned a Sony Experia phone, you dont need a review.
Sony owners know what this device can do.
I have owned every single Experia model, and this is a very good phone.
What most dont know, you get the headphones XM5 for free.
The battery life is the best of rest, period .
You dont know the difference without the 4K display.
For photos, it is not made for auto modes, but manual, and it destroys the Samsung and the Iphone.
Their auto mode is better, but not designed for manual photos.
All the reviews of how the pictures are made, are all made in auto mode.

They should change their telephoto sensor to a bigger and wide angle

As much as I like the 1 VI a lot, I stick with 1 V. I still don't like move from the iconic 21x9 screen to a generic 19.5x9 screen. Sony should have kept the former but with an LTPO panel.

Also, the telephoto camera needs a bigger sensor. It's still ironic to see the Mk3 Xperia 1/5 still has a larger telephoto camera sensor than all its successors. If Sony can at least utilize LYT500 sensor for 1 VII's telephoto camera, that would be sweet.

So Sony finally makes a phone that is perfect for me, and make it unavailable in my country that otherwise gets every single other manufacturer's phone releases? WHY?

If the price wasn't that outrageous I'd be sold. But the same price as a S24U with a pen and 7y of updates vs 4 is bad value. Looking at the past years there's no hope the prices will become more reasonable after a few months.
