The Hiatus is an amazing livable tiny house on foundation inside a one-of-kind cottage-style community located in Bend, OR. The tiny home footprint is 400 sqft, with 2 lofts it's 598 sqft. Built to IRC Appendix Q standards. ✨Hope you enjoy this #tinyhouse & #pocketneighborhood tour!

The Hiatus pocket neighborhood is inspired by Ross Chapin's work. Parking is on the exterior of the tiny home community, and the clustered cottages face inward to open shared community spaces. Residents enjoy winding paths, trickling ponds, garden boxes, bocce court, and cozy fire pits. Feels like a sanctuary!

If I'm paying that kind of money, I want to be able to stand up in both lofts! No crawling on my knees for almost a quarter of a million, no sir! That's insane!

The price...it absolutely deviates the whole purpose of going tiny...rent, mortgage, taxes, etc. Way too expensive 😔

This is a wonderful concept, and I appreciate that the comments on unaffordability are left up, not deleted. Because I think there is something wrong with our American economy that these homes are not comfortably affordable to households with income less than $50, 000 -- which is 40% of American families. I would like to see the city of Bend (and all other cities, too) work with builders like this one so these kinds of wholesome, beautiful, welcoming communities become more accessible.

Remember when the movement started and we'd hear about folks building a home for under $20K?

this price destroys the whole point of tiny houses lol

this house was beautiful but for 249, 000 I can build a 3 or bedroom ground up

You had me hooked until I realize there wasn’t a single closet in the entire place and when the price came out…uffdah! $250, 000 for a house with less than 600 ft.² …that is some pricey square footage. Except for those two issues…I absolutely love the design of the house and the fact that your electricity is completely taken care of by the solar panels.

Love the houses and the idea but that price is a deal breaker

I still love this layout even after three years. It's still a very well-thought-out home.

Are they kidding, 250, 000 for a tiny house. THATS NUTS... Budget 70- 80, 000 for a really nice tiny house. Get out of the city and buy 10 acres and STILL come in lees than half of this!!

I thought that the point of buying a tiny home was for them to be cheaper.

This is what society should be like, nice, peaceful, communitarian, and clean.

Very nice. You're really paying for the land and community as well. This is the new modern trailer park for the Robinhood kids.

$250k?!?! Hell no! Only a total idiot would pay that

It feels a bit like a deconstructed apartment building. I really like the concept, love the zero energy, even that it’s a community just too close together for me.

Those houses are too close. I wouldn’t want to be forced to “ bump into” my neighbors or for them to see what I’m doing on my porch 😂 love the design though

Lovely design. The price definitely would not work for me. The movement started for several reasons: affordable housing, less environmental impact, end to mortgage, etc. Now it's become a status symbol almost to be able to live in one or own one. I had the opportunity to purchase two about six years ago for 30 each. Kicking myself that I didn't because things have really changed. All that said, I understand the high quality materials and cost of building has gone up. And aside from all that, this is a very well thought out design. Beautiful.
