Here former Penn State Wrestler Geno Morelli shows an effective escape when an opponent gets a standing single-leg.

Jiu-jitsu athletes often give up to early when their opponent gets a single leg to the standing position. This is an area where competitive wrestlers are very stingy because there is still a lot of things that you can do to prevent the takedown. Here you will see that I use my upper body weight by putting my chest over my knee which makes my leg very heavy. This is further assisted by driving weight off of my leg that is on the mat into my opponent. At the same time, i start looking for wrist control to loosen my opponent's grip and to also prevent him from grabbing my head to off balance me.
