23 confirmed dead in school bus fire in Thailand

Twenty-three people are confirmed dead after a fire tore through a school bus reportedly carrying students and teachers on a field trip in the outskirts of Thailand's capital. The blaze broke out in Pathum Thani province. Officials say the vehicle was carrying 44 students and teachers from a school in central Uthai Thani province. The students are said to be elementary and junior high school students. Jack Board reports from Pathum Thani, Thailand.

No M.O.T. tests, no tyre laws, no driver phone use laws, poor road maintenance, no Highway Code to speak of, not uncommon (or illegal) to see an entire family of 5 or 6 on a moped or scooter with not a helmet between them, or a scooter carrying an enormous load etc !

It’s not the first time this kind of bus has horrible accident and people can’t open the door and save themself . It was talk about not using it, but I guess money solve the problem . "How can this incident happen ?" simple; lack of safety standards and care. The driver runs away and turns of phone (probably used alcohol or drugs) and the fire is probably due to illegally and unprofessionally converted gas supply. Nobody checks the tyres, nobody checks the gas systems, nobody checks road quality (cause of flat tyre), nobody checks substance abuse by bus drivers ... etc etc ... Thailand is one of the most dangerous countries in the world in terms of road safety. nobody checks fire extinguishers either ... culture of 'don't worry; you think tooo much' and only surprised when it goed wrong. Everyday many, many people die on Thai roads.
