People who don't follow paleontology news might not realize this, that stegosaurus fossil being sold is actually very depressing. Unless the new owner donates it to a museum or puts it on permanent loan, that stegosaurus has been lost to science forever. It's sort of like a mega-rich person buying one of Michaelangelo's paintings and keeping it in their home, where no one but them can see it.
