i love the versatility of mai. She can go from riding in a Lamborghini and living in a penthouse to showering with a bucket driving a moped. it really shows how grateful she is because she never complains about a thing.

this kind of travel video really shows the heart and intentions of a Maiphammy to her root. I really hope she'll start doing her own podcast soon, this woman is not just independently funny but is also so wise.

As a fellow asian, I'd like to say a huge thank you for showing us your beautiful country as well as embracing your culture. This vlog made me appreciate my filipino culture and heritage. Thank you for not only representing Vietnamese people but also all of us asians, Mai! You deserve all the love and support you're getting from the entire world! Love seeing this new side of you. I'm soooo looking forward to your travel vlogs!!!

As a Vietnamese person who was not able to grow up with the culture, it's truly heartwarming to watch this video and see you traverse through the homeland and relive wholesome memories. I am so proud of you and watching videos like this make me feel a little less alone in the world when it comes to feeling a bit of an outsider when it comes to going back to your roots, thank you so much!

this made me really think because i am genuinely so proud of this generation for making cultures feel more valid and honest now because i grew up never thinking much about my culture but i realised that was because people didn’t really understand asian culture or thought it was different but more particularly a weird kind of different. i used to hate how my filipino family and friends would take up so much space in public places and talk so loudly but i’ve grown comfortable with that and realise that that’s just what family and home is. i love how people’s cultures are being more embraced these past couple of years. i feel more proud and happy to be within an asian group and culture 🫶🏽 anyways para over this video just made me feel really proud :’)

as a vietnamese girl myself, you really earned a different level of respect from me Mai. being born and raised in american waters, as well as fear of losing my touch in how fluent i am in Vietnamese, i’ve been a little anxious about traveling back to VN. however you have shown me that even with the slight language barrier, you still have an amazing time!!! i will be visiting VN for tết and will for sure use your video to help guide me to different places to visit!!! much love from Virginia ☻
chúc chị mạnh khỏe!!

This is such wholesome content with your grandma, I love that you're revisiting and remembering the places you lived in during your childhood. As someone who immigrated to the US from Sri Lanka when I was 7 years old, this reminds me of when I would visit and be reminded of familiar places from my childhood. My parents were farmers so we lived in the rural areas as well. Also (not me writing a whole essay lol), I found the part where you said that your trauma blocked out most of your childhood so relatable lol <3

I'm 23 Viet Asian American and I haven't been back to Vietnam since I was 6 yrs old. I've always felt like I didn't deserve to go back bc of how "American" I am, that I wouldn't appreciate the culture enough, or that my relatives will judge me. This vlog has literally changed that mindset - I want to go back and see my family and explore Vietnam now that I'm older. You inspire me, Mai. Love you so much <3 So happy you had a great time!
