Trouble is, there's very little you can do to dissuade someone who has the "yeah I might die young but I don't care I want to be huge and strong now" mindset.

I have the exact opposite mindset. I want to do things now so that I can still remain active waaaay into my autumn and winter years. I wanna be one of those grandads in their 70s and 80s still doing dips and pull-ups.
