I did not ask my father in law for my wifes hand in marriage. I did and do not value his opinion. He was so pissed, but didn't say a word. Every step of the relationship he got into big fights with my wife. He always acted like we needed his permission and hated that we did everything on our own no matter how often he threatened to disinherit my wife. Narcissism at it's best.
