Thank you for the informative video :) I have a basic question - for a noncompliant Windows 11 PC, can you still access anything on that computer such as Word documents, photos, etc. that are saved to your hard drive? I am thinking of moving to an Apple iPad but would still like to access anything saved to my PC hard drive. Thank you!

This was extremely informative for an old guy like me, who is pretty much tech-ignorant and has Windows10 but will not be able to run Windows11 due to the age of my pc. There seems to be still opportunity for security measures to continue for some time hence. Which will go first, me or my laptop? Ha! Thanks a lot. Robert, 76, uk.

Microsoft have announced that you can use 1, 000 Microsoft reward points to buy a year's free Windows 10 updates when free support ends in October 2025. I have earned 25, 000 Microsoft reward points in one year by claiming free reward points each day using the Xbox app on my phone once a day and so this many points are easy to accumulate.

Note that I did not need to own an Xbox to use the Xbox app on my phone.

You can also earn ten extra reward points using the Xbox app by playing either Gears of War 5 or the free version of Halo Infinite on your PC each day. I expect that companies will soon require their employees to play Halo Infinite on their work PCs once a day to earn enough points for Windows 10 updates on their Windows 10 work PCs. 🙂

Note also on a more boring note that you can get a Year's Windows 10 support on a PC by also enabling OneDrive on that PC.

This is creating a huge concern for many of my clients. I'm sure you're seeing the same thing. I'd love to be able to get more people using Linux. Unfortunately Bill has the monopoly. Thanks for your input on this subject.

i use windows 10 ltsc on 2 of my pcs so i will get updates until like 2031. When chrome stops supporting windows 10 I will use a browser called supermium which is a browser thats based on chrome and works on everything from xp on up. Also i have a 12 year old laptop with windows 11 installed by using rufus to get rid of most of the requirements microsoft has in place and for now it works just fine.

I remember when Windows 10 was released, Microsoft said there would not be any more only did they trip us into believing the 'false' statement that Win 10 was the last version, but now there's rumors there's going to be a Windows 12!!!!

Zorin OS is an excellent option for those who are new to Linux or anyone else who wants a simple, elegant, and stable experience. It is an ideal Windows 10 replacement!

Things Linux Does Better Than Windows

1. Performance & Speed 🖥

- Lighter on system resources: Linux can run smoothly on older hardware.
- Boots faster and generally feels snappier without background bloat.
- Linux Mint, in particular, is known for its clean and efficient desktop environment.

2. Security 🛡

- Less vulnerable to viruses and malware — Linux is a smaller target for attackers.
- Permissions-based system makes it harder for malicious software to do damage.
- No need for third-party antivirus in most cases.

3. Customization 🔧

- You can tweak everything — from your desktop appearance to how your kernel works.
- Different desktop environments (Cinnamon, Xfce, KDE, etc.) let you pick your ideal setup.
- You’re in control of updates, background services, startup apps — no forced changes.

4. Free and Open Source 💸

- Most Linux distros (including Mint) are completely free — no licenses or activation needed.
- Open-source software means transparency, community collaboration, and trust.
- No telemetry or data tracking unless you explicitly allow it.

5. Software Installation 📦

- Package managers like APT let you install software easily with a single command.
- Flatpak, AppImage, and Snap offer sandboxed apps with fewer compatibility issues.
- Updates are centralized — OS, drivers, and apps can all update together in one shot.

6. Stability & Control 🧠

- Linux is less prone to crashing, especially after updates.
- Updates are smoother and don’t tend to break your system (looking at you, Windows 10/11).
- No automatic reboots in the middle of your work.

7. Filesystem & Package Efficiency 💾

- File systems like ext4, Btrfs, or ZFS are more robust and faster than NTFS.
- No file fragmentation issues like with Windows.
- No registry bloat — config files are simple text files you can inspect or back up.

8. Perfect for Developers, Power Users, and Servers 🌐

- Comes with tools like bash, SSH, cron, grep, and more.
- Most programming tools and languages run natively and faster on Linux.
- Linux dominates the server world — nearly all cloud infrastructure runs it.

9. Driver Independence ⚙

- Most hardware works out of the box without hunting for drivers.
- No proprietary driver auto-installs or background firmware downloads.

10. Consistency Across Devices 🔄

- Whether on a Raspberry Pi, a laptop, a server, or in a virtual machine — Linux works the same.
- Perfect for learning and controlling every layer of your system.

Will Linux being installed on my current Win 10 not compatible Win 11 PC (Dell 7050 6600T) be secure from viruses? Same hardware of course. Windows claims the hardware is the reason for windows 11 not working on a 6600T etc, and has built in security in the chips.

…at the same time the FCC is considering eliminating the free TV reception standard ATSC 1.0 for ATSC 3.0 (NextgenTV). Gonna be a pile of old TVs and computers going into the landfills — not to mention the unnecessary costs to consumers… :(

Explain how Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC will be getting updates till 2032 for free?

KarenSmith-efkk
Автор

The word is that Windows 10 IOT LTSC ends update support January 12 2027, and extended support i.e. security updates January 13 2032. It is further mention that "extended" support will most likely "cost". There is the option of getting extended support for Windows 10 Home/Pro from Opatch or Microsoft the cost apparently will be US$30.00 per year for each machine updated. Microsoft says that it will provide this service to the public for 1 year only, whereas Opatch updates will be available until 2030.

From Windows 11 ver. 24H2
UEFI,
TPM2.0 and
Secure boot
are NOW Officially made optional by Microsoft. (It is in Microsoft's Website).
SSE 4.2 is the ONLY requirement.
So Computers with CPUs later than Intel Core2DUO CAN all upgrade to Win11 24H2 for FREE.

if you run Norton or McAfee I think other viruses are the least of your worries as they are pretty much malware.

Since my laptop has windows 10 and it's unsupported with windows 11 I'm probably gonna keep windows 10 or possibly install chrome OS flex but most likely I will install Ubuntu Linux mint or Linux lite

Probably I will downgrade to windows 8.1 as that was my favorite windows os but less secure

But I'm most likely probably going to stick to windows 10
