for anyone who's curious, geo kitten just uses your IP, Of course they have got your IP. It is public knowledge-your IP is carried by each data packet that leaves your computer/router.

And no - all they can do with your IP is an educated guess of your whereabouts. By using samples they know the IP blocks allocated by your ISP to each PoP. So from the IP they get the information who your ISP is, and then they use their business intelligence to find the area. But they cannot get any further. IP addresses don’t have geographical meaning.
