America's Game: 1982 Washington Redskins | HTTR4LIFE

The 1982 NFL season wasn't a marathon, it was a sprint. A players' strike reduced a 16-week schedule to nine that season, leaving teams scrambling to reach the playoffs. Most clubs appeared frantic and rusty after the layoff. But the Washington Redskins dominated under head coach Joe Gibbs.

Exclusive interviews from Joe Theismann, Russ Grimm, and Rick "Doc" Walker.

I'm a native from Washington DC and i remember this time! It was awesome to be a Redskins fan during the 80s and 90s! I'm in my late 50s now but I'll never forget those moments!!!!

Man. This was the season where i latched on. I was 10. Its strange, comforting, and silly, how emotional i get when i see programs and clips like this. Is it because whats happening now? Partly. The fact that many of us somehow made it through the snyder years without throwing in the towel is a miracle in and of itself.

Russ Grimm telling Randy White “hey Randy, it’s coming at you” and then destroy him for an entire drive is the most badass thing I’ve ever heard of a lineman doing. I’m telling you this is how it’s going to be and there ain’t a damn thing you can do about it.

One of the last champions where O-line play set the tone on a North/South team. Not to mention the straight ahead kicker being the MVP. A truly unique team.

Funny how the helmet logo was different for this season only…the feathers curved around the outer circle instead of hanging down. Apparently bc the feathers weren’t sticking properly. I wonder why they went back to the original style…especially after winning the Super Bowl.

And what most fans have forgotten or dont even know about was in 82 in the NFC Championship game when they beat Dallas, the Cowboys actually quit and walked off the field into the locker room with time still on the clock...i believe Pearson was the only Dallas player that stayed on yhe field....watch the game and enjoy watching the Hogs literally make the Cowboys quit!!

HTTR!!! Braves fight for All D.C. I wish they would have stayed with the name. It wasn’t a supposed to be offensive but in powering.

My Cowboys third straight NFC champ loss in a row. I think this one hurt worst than the previous year's "The Catch" because the Redskins beat us down pretty good, especially the Hogs and Riggins over and over. That was a magical year for the Redskins. Entertaining Super Bowl against the Dolphins too.

I miss the old NFL with 28 teams, that's when it was football!! Today's football games are starting to turn into a sissy sport and players don't care to play the sport because they want too. It's about the how much they can make. I love these old films!
