Shailene Woodley is actually a pretty good actress. The problem is, the divergent movies are complete shit, and the character of Tris (even in the books) was so bland. The writer was trying to make her a blank slate that any of us could see ourselves in, but no one did because she was that boring. Honestly, I hate when people hate actors and say they suck based on one performance, rather than seeing a bunch of other things and recognizing the suckiness of the movie (ie, the twilight franchise had plenty of good actors who got a lot of shit for the shitty movies.)
