In "Not a FE interview video" I don't answer a programming question about how to be a FE dev.

One of VERY few videos on youtube that I did not use fast-forward. Amazing sharing about what the interviewers actually expected from the candidates. Thanks 🙏🙏

I'm a embedded systems developer that mostly works with C++, so from a pure technology perspective, your videos wouldn't be especially relevant to me.
Nevertheless, I love watching your videos, not only because I'm curious about what's going on in other areas, but mostly because of the clear and concise way you pass your message.
There's a lot to learn about 'communication' in your videos by simply watching them.

P.S.: it's 3 AM there, and the Sun is already shinning at almost full power within the first 20 min!

I love watching your videos while having a break, or in the weekends.

Thank you very much Fredrik for your content, keep it up bro, and have nice weekend! :-)

Thank you for taking the time to do this Fredrik, really really enjoyed the video!
I took notes of the fundamentals you mentioned and will be looking at them more in depth, I still have a few more months left to practice thoroughly😅

Once again thank you and enjoy your sunday!

Thanks SO much for this video Fredrik. I'm studying algorithm and data structures for my interviews and this video give me a lot of value and material for studying. Your channel is fucking gold.

Great video Fredrick, long time subscriber here, and I smiled watching this as you seem to have mellowed out on your opinions on hiring juniors lol. I remember some of your earlier videos as a junior and got scared out of my mind feeling like I would never make it in as you say “Professional Grade Software Development” 😂

Perfekt timing på den här videon. Jag är just klar med ett bootcamp och ska börja söka jobb om ett par veckor. :) Tack så mycket

I totally agree that it is IMPOSSIBLE to fake your skills with a decent engineer, but a lot of people as hacking the system because of, I think :
1- the immense market demand
2- No real "senior" in the hiring process (which I think is a side effect of number 1).

Fredrik,
Do you think it is possible to fill the IT job demand if there were only "pro fessional grade software engineers" ? aren't all the "other engineers" necessary?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge,
Have a great day!

Thanks for another great video Fredrik! Any tips for a Java developer looking to switch over to full stack development? My current plan is creating a few side projects and adding them to a portfolio site. Do you think a pay cut in the beginning should be expected?

Regarding the recreation of functions, React can't do anything about it Fredrik. Even if two functions are exactly the same, they are not referentially equal, and this is a hint for the developer. There's a hook called useRef that allows us to have state that will "survive" re-renders.

For 99.9% of the time, frontend developers don't have to deal with this and useState will suffice for most of the use cases.

Hey Frederic, talking about jobs. I recently got my first job as a react developer. My first job was more vanilla js/ jquery based. Otherwise I’ve been using react on and off over the past 2 years. Any advice on how I can show that I am proactively learning and showing improvement to my new coworkers and fello devs? I obviously care about software and try to learn outside of work and don’t want to lose this job. Any tips?

I have a question.
If you were a developer with RSI, that was programming by voice with something like Serenade or Talon, how would you maximize your chance of getting the job?
You'd need the ability to either work from home, or have your own room to sit in at work to avoid too much background noise fucking up the voice commands, and to not disturb everyone else.
Most companies discriminate against devs with disabilities like this, even though it's a very common disability in our profession. There are Slack channels and Discord servers with thousands of devs with these problems that have no fucking idea of how to handle the interview process without getting disqualified due to their disability.

if you been a student in web dev (frontend) for many years you have done projects weekly and have a degree. why do I have to go through a coding interview all you can do is look at my projects / portfolio. ?

I'm pretty sure some more mathematically inclined person would roast you for calling promise a monad. :D
Well aktshually... it isn't a monad. Although it serves as similar purpose. I can't explain the details why though.
Just parroting some old F# dude I found on the internet once explaining functional paradigm and monads specifically.
