Don't forget that model 3 and Y are also "robotaxi" so for bigger trips you just cold get a model 3 or Y. But for city is the cybercab

The answer to every question you ask: Everything you saw today was a movie prop. The cab, the van even the robots it was all theatre...

This would have been the £25k model 2 if they hadn't gone down the autonomous taxi route... I would have preferred a driveable version of this than what they decided to go with.

Drew, Induction charging is a must for the robotaxi model to work. It’s autonomous, hence no person to plug in a cord. It will drive itself to induction charge station and be ready to be summoned by people after it’s charged. All robotaxi, within a defined region, can all coordinate for a time slot needed to charge . Imagine that a charging station in theory can be used almost every minute of the day in this model. Very efficient use for autonomous operation.

I don't want private public transport. I want public transport. Taxi's have always sucked these could make up last mile to connect people to public transport. But there are probably better solutions for that.

As far as charging… I don’t think the robotaxi would accept rides where the range of the destination exceeds the range of the cab. When battery drops to certain level the cab would go charge up then returns to the field.

Elon says prototypes are easy. Cybercab is a prototype.

For two passengers I would rather have the Aptera. Seems Tesla is actually falling behind to Aptera.

They will have to add a charge port for the 25k car.

None of this will ever see production. Not a chance.

No specs at all. No information about sensors. Is that stainless steel? Really, Tesla is many many years from making any of the toys shown tonight.

Under 30k dude… don’t be cheap. The car will make money without you in it. They said 25k 5000 dollars worth of inflation ago

First time watcher. I regularly follow more than a half dozen Tesla bloggers but hadn't seen yours before today. Good information in general and you raise some good questions. You draw some conclusions that don't make sense to me but I wish you well..

Cybercab is kind of a VW XL1/Mercedes Vision EQXX/BMW i3 (with the skinny wheels) combo, really like it! Looks really optimised for the taxi use case.

The i3 had 175/55 R20 so a bit narrower but pretty similar!

I’d buy the Cybercab immediately for 35k if it had a steering wheel

I both hope and suspect the "Model 2" is a just a cybercab modified for human use ie added a wheel, pedals, mirrors, and hopefully chargeport. As weird as it might be for no chargepoint planned I AM glad that Tesla is finally leading the charge on bringing inductive charging to the market. However, I do agree with you that they should at least offer a solar option. These seem well suited to that.

Under 30k for a robotaxi. A car that you can use as long as you need then it can go out and earn you money. Also there are 100kw wireless chargers available today, adding charging pads to the existing superchargers especially version 4 will be quite easy. They have been working on wireless charging for a while and will have allowed for this in all version 4 superchargers.

Why aren't more people asking this - were ANY of the Cybercab and Optimus demos last night actually autonomous using FSD, or were they preprogrammed and remote operated respectively? The clips of Optimus at the bar clearly seemed like human operation

Wireless charging means hotter battery temps so that’s 9:36 not a reason.
I’m confused about it being wireless: battery degradation, slower recharge and no infrastructure to utilize

I like how the sidewalls on the tires are also painted to give the impression of larger wheels. Good design trick.
