Zebra GK420D label printer repair- no power

Saw the same trick with the soldering iron and hot air station on Mr SolderFix channel three days ago.
He uses aluminum foil tape instead of Kapton tape to cover the plastic parts.
Always nice to learn something new.

These connectors are a common source of failure on many devices,
the pcb mounted ones don't like been abused

i bought a thermal printer of ebay before xmas to fix and use, when i plugged it up to test it it worked perfectly and was nothing to fix, was well upset lol but at least i got a working thermal printer cheap .

Sorin, i am from Kenya and i think you should hear this. I like your channel, your content and your character while recording. Your video content is very useful. I had a similar fault on a thing sometime ago. I don't remember the thing but do remember the fix. Re-flowing the power connector. Visually it looked fine but continuity test revealed high resistance. Lead free, too cold or too much mass in the tab to flow correctly in the oven maybe. Anyway, good video showing a sneaky fault.

I'm dealing with something almost the same. Trying to remove the socket is a pain because it is soldered on both sides. There is just enough solder left after vacuuming that it will not release, and because it is in both sides, you heat up one side, and the back side cools again.I think I need 3 irons and 4 hands 😀

Sorin, nice fix but please look at time 5:20 of the video the solder connection on switch also looks bad unless it’s a shadow. You may have seen this. Enjoy all your videos…

Why is the charger 24.4V? Our battery powered vacuum cleaner also has the same voltage, but because it has batteries. This one does not.

which bench power supply is good for laptop repair? I mean power supply with short circuit protection or without? how long will last a power supply without?
