In this video, we’re going to talk about oysters. Are oysters good for you and are they safe to eat? Let’s take a look.

Oysters contain many essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. Here are some of the nutritional benefits of oysters:
• Omega-3 fatty acids
• Zinc
• Protein
• Vitamin D
• Vitamin B-12
• Iron
• Copper
• Manganese
• Selenium
• B1, B2, B3

The problem with oysters is that they contain toxins. If you’re going to eat them, just don’t do it too frequently.

Oysters are filter feeders, not bottom feeders, so they absorb algae from the water. The selenium in oysters counters some of the heavy metals and toxins that they contain. Selenium is very important in helping the liver remove toxins from the body.

Here in Australia, we have lovely rock oysters which I have every second day . They are small about the size of a small pinkie finger so I will have 12 at a time . Lovely salty and fresh .

Koreans eat Seaweed Soup that are crazy rich in all said nutrients. Traditionally new mothers always eat this soup after birth of a child to replenish the body. Also, Koreans eat this on birthdays as commemoration to their mothers. Go to any Korean market order online for pre packaged Seaweed Soups. I eat these often along with my keto diet and other supplements from Dr Berg!!!!

If and/or when I eat any kind of fish or seafood, I take Chlorella to remove most of the heavy metals... Spirulina is also great for removing heavy metals :-) ...and there are probably more. With that in mind, I'm not overly concerned about eating them :-) Great information :-) Thanks

Whoa, Dr Berg! I've never bought oysters in the shell to bring home and prepare before until today! I wasn't planning on buying them. I just bought them on a whim as I was leaving our local Farmers Market. After I got home, I sat down and checked my emails and low and behold found this video from you in my Inbox!! OH...Wow!!! I took it as a sign that it's meant for me to be eating oysters at this time in my life. I haven't eaten any oysters in a long time, and I'm really looking forward to enjoying these!! Thank you for the nutritional info on oysters. I've been needing to up many of those nutrients, esp Omega 3 and selenium.

Hello Dr. Berg! Thank you for all the information I needed to start my ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting, I eat usually once a day and it is enough. I'm trying to convince a friend to try the diet but one problem she asked was the amount cholesterol in the eggs as I eat 4 medium eggs per day and she also has anemia. A video guiding people with anemia on keto would be great. Thank you!

I get oysters twice a year... After major snow storms.
The day before yesterday was the second time... They keep in the fridge for a long time...
Baked...in a closed shell, Garlic, organic raw Jersey butter added when they come out of the oven...🤔Unbeatable!
😁🤗👍

It would be helpful to have a final recommendation. I guess you kinda said eat them but not too often. Maybe elaborate on that. But great short video. Thanks

What about canned smoked oysters packed in olive oil?? Is this keto friendly? 10g fat, 11g protein, 4g carbs per can.

When I looked up a few canned oyster brands none of them listed Zinc in their nutrition info. I'm really confused.

Love it even when the Dr. just talks about it for 30 seconds. Trust him.

you actually could start by telling a history about oyster evolution, the beginning of the consumption, and influential people who love eating oyster, then get to the pros & cons for ads. Subscribed tho :)

Have you addressed IF or OMAD regarding folks who have chronically low blood pressure? (ranges 89/54 to 90/60 and has dipped to 76/54 before). My average body temp is 97.4 and I stay cold. This has been my adult life. With such a slow metabolism, losing weight has always been a problem. I get very little "empathy" regarding low blood pressure because high blood pressure is such a hot topic. Most folks even say, "you are lucky" when they don't realize the fatigue that accompanies low BP. Thanks for considering a video on this topic!
