Not on purpose. Even Teixeira said so after the game. But it hurts.

No one is trying to hit the 2016 version of Teixeria. He was washed up.

Teixeira was an excellent ball player, but it seemed like he had quite a few of these hit-by-pitch situations where he comically overreacted like this throughout his career. Fausto Carmona/Roberto Hernandez and Vincente Padilla instantly come to mind. I remember he got hit in the knee with a Jon Lester pitch and he was writhing around on the ground like he caught sniper fire. And do we even have to mention all the time he spent on the Disabled List throughout his career? Being tough was not this guy's strong suit! He always struck me as a bit of a jackass.

This was clearly unintentional. Tex overreacted badly.
