μέσα στης νύφης την ποδιά

Simone Mongelli - Bodyterranean - Music without instruments
"Apano stin triandafyllia"
(Greek traditional / Simone Mongelli)
From our participation to the ERT TV show "To Alati tis gis", 07/02/2021
with:
Simone Mongelli – body percussion, vocals, vocal & mouth percussion, arrangements, direction
Sissy Pintela – body percussion, vocals
Fotis Fotopoulos – body percussion, vocals
Lida Doumouliaka – singing, vocals, body percussion
Michalis Kotsogiannis – vocals, vocal bass, body percussion
Natalia Lampadaki – singing, vocals, body percussion
Selene Philippitzi – body percussion, vocals
Traditional, very poetic wedding song from the area of Chalkidiki, Macedonia, Northern Greece, rich in symbols of good luck and prosperity for the new couple, like rose petals, the partridge and the nest. The tune is traditionally known in two versions, in 7/8 and 3/4 time signatures. My arrangement is based on the combination of both versions, with a dynamic and rhythmic approach in the 7/8 section, and a sweeter, polyphonic arrangement in the 3/4 part. -Simone Mongelli-
Lyrics:
On the rose tree,
the partridge built its nest,
and the birds come back and forth.
They gently shake the tree,
and the rose leaves fall down,
right onto the bride’s dress.
