AFTER LIVING AS PRIMORDIAL SPECIES FOR APPROXIMATELY SEVEN MILLIONS YEARS, THERE HAS BEEN A BREAK DOWN IN INDUSTRIAL EVOLUTION WHICH IS FOLLOWED BY TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT IN LAST TWO CENTURIES WHICH CHANGED THE WAY OF HUMAN LIVING ALMOST COMPLETELY. ONE OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE NEW TECHNOLOGICALLY DEVELOPED LIVING IS ON OUR BRAINS WHICH IS STILL EVOLVING WITH ITS OLD SPEED WHICH IS USED OR CODED TO LIVE IN A MORE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. THE INCOHERENCE BETWEEN THE SPEED OF HUMAN EVOLUTION AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND ITS EFFECTS OF HUMAN WELLBEING CONSTITUTE THE SUBJECT OF THIS STUDY.

This thesis research continues with an exhibition design project that exhibits the research made, to raise an awareness and give an insight to its viewers by using forms, light and distorted shapes from an interior designer aspect. As an interior designer, I believe spatial elements have many metaphorical meanings in our subconscious. Patterns, Golden ratio, fractals are the math of the design of world. But then after those perfectly orders, and regular structures, there are also distortions that follows them, which is a beginning of change and evolution process.
In this project, I wanted to create perfect orders and break them right after the viewers thinks it is continuous, just like life’s behavior. The project aims to make the viewers ‘zoom out’, like we designers zoom in and zoom out so often. I believe that zoom in and zooming out in CAD & 3D programs, gives us an insight to always imagine the big picture.
There are light tunnels that has a changing patterns which leads you to even bigger room with a 3 dimensional image to say ‘after those geometrical 2-3D shapes, there is more. Understanding the concept of ‘there is more’ is crucial to reach a better and more civil world with peace in it. I believe if people would have a perspective about eternal and multidimensional creation of this universe, they wouldn’t feel so important as main religions tell them they are. I believe when people are focusing on daily matters, they just zoom in. But it is a lazy behavior which doesn’t create as many neurons as there can be. If people would have an insight how there is no rights and no wrongs, we are always in between. We are on an arrow. We are in a range. Just like coordinates, there are no beginning or the ending, but just coordinates of a location... Maybe it is underestimated to give such understandings to children when they are raising to create people without this mentality who can be controlled more easily. So that I believe governments who create the index of education, are so picky about opening minds. So that this thesis project is peacefully tries to exhibit ‘distortions’ by forms and views, because I believe such theoretical concepts are more effective when they can be experienced.

We are under affect of long exposure of artificial environment. Lots of diseases that has been mentioned earlier are caused by our surroundings. After analyzing the researches of the neuroscientists, psychologists, architects and interior designers, unsurprisingly we face with a highly complex systems depending on the parameters. As complex as human being. This complexity makes human being unique and interesting. Seeing all those neurons like electrical devices, connecting, interacting and sharing information, creating linkage between time, situation and the space, something nice to watch emerges. I believe we as designers should behave like a neuron and make a linkage between the neuroscience and architecture, psychology and space, feelings and representations. As we zoom in to brain wires to zoom out galaxies, we see some systems, like fractals and others, we observe patterns. Even though a perception changes according to many factors, it is always possible to zoom out from the specific occasion and find a pattern that works for the most people. It is obvious that a space with perfect lighting, perfect air, perfect environmental noises and smells, will never evoke something positive for a person who had a serious trauma in that place. But we can still try to catch as many informations as we can to read the pattern of human as a highly organic assets. As mentioned before there are concepts like priming to create the wanted feelings, in required spaces. To contribute to create a space with optimum potential, I believe it is valuable to always putting eye on people by considering that they are the users of the space we design. In this thesis topic, I focused on human being with its various aspects. Firstly check-in in history scene, then analyzed the current situation with its evolution process. Then added recent founding in the subject of human brain, psychology and tried to match it with interior space to take it in consideration in the design process.

Thank you.
