Recently Andrew over at Tiny House Revolution got his hands on Salad Bowl Finish by General Finishes to test it out. As he discovered, you can create a beautiful and safe finish on wooden bowls, cups, spoons, and countertops. Easy to apply - just wipe on with a soft clean rag. Achieves the sheen and resistance of a varnish.

Wow this is great! THank you so much for sharing this video, just what I was looking for. I am wanting to use this on some wooden toys for children, and have thought of this product because of its non-toxic and natural qualities. Do you think that the ink/paint on the toys would still bleed or leach through this product?

you don't have to sand in between coats?  How long does it take to dry before adding another coat?  How long does it last when completed?

Great finish, but don't plan on keeping it long after opening. This finish "goes bad" quickly, i.e., becomes viscous even when the can is resealed. I wrote General Finishes about this and their response was, "That's the nature of the beast."
