I finally learned to take care of myself - expanding my world
In this video I wanted to recap a bit of my journey towards better mental and physical health by making small but sustainable changes in my daily life, hopefully to encourage all of you who are trying to make some lifestyle changes for the new year! After hitting a particular low in my life, I decided to try to learn to be my best friend, change my thought patterns, and learn to be a little more ‘free’. It’s a long journey and I will never reach the end, but each step has been so rewarding and made me fall in love with learning how to thrive as a sensitive person in a complicated world. After experiencing challenges regarding addictive behaviors, workaholism, and several other issues I’ve made videos about, as I matured I realized all those behaviors were just symptoms of an inner wound I needed to heal. I wish for that same freedom for all of us…freedom from lies we have believed about ourselves or things we “should” do or be. When your child is born. And even when you are carrying the baby in the womb .. your life becomes focused on that new precious person. It is an undescribable feeling.

When you expand your world beyond the confines of the struggles you are facing, you slowly begin to realize that what you're struggling with doesn't have to be your entire world. It can be a part of who you are in the present, but by no means does it define you or dictate your worth. And it certainly doesn't need to be in your future. Things change. We grow. And the mountains we never thought we'd be able to climb start to look like hills in hindsight. And that's a hard thing to believe. But I need to believe it to go forward. And in the beauty of that journey, you become aware that you are strong.

When I was a kid my grandma used to read me a book called ‘Hailstones and Halibut Bones’ it is such a beautiful book that describes colors. I read it every year around Christmas and it always brings joy to my heart.

26 years ago, after years of trying to get pregnant, my husband and I found out we were expecting. It was the most joyous Christmas ever, sharing our news and sonograms with our families on Christmas morning. There were many tears of joy shed that day, and I still think of it as the best Christmas with the most miraculous Christmas present ever. Blessings to you and your wee one.
