Dude didn't even mention the fact that these things are not only sentient, but take pride in being able to house ecosystems. They even have names, and social statuses amongst each other. Those that can host diverse ecosystems are highly respected, and those who can't host sentient life are looked down on.

The one the melenium falcon escaped from was a super rare example that tried to split and didnt, which causes a mutation in them making them grow infinity but cant split anymore. The gigantic ones were thought to be a myth till they saw the one in the film 😊
