As part of a NASA experiment called “Cubes in Space”, a group of students at St. Brother André Elementary School in Ottawa wanted to see what happens if an EpiPen was sent up to space.

Would the device that treats potentially fatal allergies still work?

Touria Izri explains how their findings not only surprised and impressed career scientists, but also have real implications for the health and safety of astronauts.

So does that also mean that emergency Epinephrine used in cardiac arrest would also be poisonous?

Lucifero!? That's an amazing name. Falconer is not bad either.

This should be made available for ALL kids. They are all worth the effort and resources.

Asking questions is how it usually works. They all deserve the credit if someone makes a different Antidote for astronauts.

If it is affected by the radiation what happens in humans? Orion still unsure how to protect astronauts so this is a new hurdle.

Way to go kids...keep up the good work...every new experiment of discovery, and the power of the mind can take you to places others seldom go...awsome i love it.

The first boy interviewed’s last name is not obvious or anything…..

If you are a parent of any child, teach them critical thinking. Let them know corporate media is their enemy.

They have saved some future astronauts life. This why increasing funding for schools is so crucial for all our futures.

I think people with allergies would be omitted from the space program so that's probably why it was never looked into but now with commercial space travel, this could be life saving

How about insulin? Do they test blood sugar or anti stamina or anti venom or anti bee stinks.

Good to see students so interested in learning and science. Now an epi pen needs to be designed to block radiation or compound that does not degrade in space environment.

Way to go kids. Only way to learn is keep asking.

I'm sure we would have made this discovery by the time space gets more usable but at least we know about it now instead of later. Hope these kids have bright futures!

That’s why we push our kids to stay having fun not learning 😮

So the next question for me would be: Has anyone had a severe allergic reaction on the Space Station? If so: What did they use to treat

Awesome, to witness fresh observers!

When i waa a little tot, i was always told, 'you should think outside the box.'

My response was, 'what box? You have a box? There was no box to begin with.'

The universe is the limit, as in comprehension, of an expansive Mind.

Hooefully epi pen makers will begin work in solving the issue and thank the kids.
