In case you haven't figured it out, or if anyone else might be curious. Those default text prompts like RGR or @LCC, you can change them to say whatever you want. When you're in the chat and you can click any of those default texts, if instead you hold down on the prompt it should have a green outline around the shorthand text and a menu will popup that will let you change both the shorthand and the full text of what you want to send. For example I changed @LCC to @Camp and it sends at Camp.

Good primer for ATAK but I’d love to see how one can setup their own private channel (off the public freq) and like the other comment said, a scenario using some of the Atak features over meshtastic.

Is there a way to have ATAK get the gps location from the meshtastic radio (radio has gps)?

I haven’t had the greatest success using Atak with meshtastic. I haven’t figured out the issue. I’m using tbeams with the lastest meshtastic firmware. I configured the tbeams as “TAK” devices. I heard you can use your meshtastic devices as “clients” but haven’t tried that yet. I get a lag when it comes down to seeing current gps locations for my other meshtastic devices. Then sometimes I get long delay when I send messages between atak app to atak app. Any suggestions or tips?
