Jacinda Ardern blasts Scott Morrison over Australia's deportation policy

The New Zealand prime minister said the Australian government's policy of deporting NZ citizens, no matter how long they had spent in Australia, was “testing” the friendship between the two nations, at a joint press conference in Sydney on Friday.

The people commenting on here might feel differently if they actually heard some of the scenerios. Its aint that simple. Some people have spent there entire lives here and all there family is here. The sentence could be a non- violent crime, could have been accidental but they were in wrong somehow, negligent, over blood alcohol limit, high or whatever.
Not everyone who makes a mistake is a "bad person" and deserves to be sent away from their family and friends permanently.

Oh here we go. She's complaining about Australia deporting criminals whom are New Zealand citizens but "identify" as Australian. Just because a person identifies in a certain way, doesn't necessarily mean that they are that thing.

I'm a Kiwi who's lived in Aussie more than 10 years. So Jacinda Ardern declares me "a non-genuine Kiwi" and says I shouldn't be allowed back into NZ. Time for Kiwis to declare her "a non-genuine Prime Minister" and not allow her back into Parliament

The amount of xenophobia from the average Australian in the comments section here is just astounding. I've lived in Oz for the past 6 years (and worked full-time since I got here) and I find myself defending Australians from people saying that they're racist, ignorant, and as blindly patriotic as Americans.
After seeing the vitriol displayed here, I'm going to find it a lot harder to do.
