How to Install Windows 11 on Mac for FREE using UTM VM app

In this video, I'm showing you how to install Windows 11 on your MacBook for FREE using UTM app.

To get Windows 11 on your Mac you need to install the UTM app. This Virtual Machine application is completely free so you don’t have to pay anything to use windows on your Mac. But the installation process is a bit more complex than in parallels desktop.

Why would you like to have windows on your MacBook? The reasons can be multiple: for example you would like to use a special type of software that exists only on Windows or you would like to play PC games on your Mac and you don’t have Windows computer as a second machine. Which is the reason I decided to install Windows 11 on my M1 pro 16-inch MacBook. Actually, the M1 pro processor is so powerful that I can run GTA V or any other heavy games without any lags at all.

For those struggling to open the cmd with a non Apple keyboard, us the F1 key instead of the Fn key. For you the combination will be F1+Shift+F10

In the UTM Terminal window, I get stuck at UEFI Interactive Shell v2.2, with the last line of code being "Press ESC in 1 seconds to skip startup.nsh or any other key to continue."

The line below is Shell>

No matter what I type, I am told that not is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or script file.

Don't see setup screen at 3:18. Instead, a "UEFI interactive shell V2.2" popped up and it shows "Shell>" at the bottom and nothing else happened.

I didn't know which windows VHDX to choose because they were different from the ones in the vid. I tried it anyway, and it just pops up a code that says stuff like:
Mapping table
FSO: Alias(s) and things like that so I was pretty confused what to do. I'm wondering if its different right now or if it's just me. The VHDX options were:
Windows 11 Client Arm64 Insider Preview (Canary) - Build 26080
Windows 11 Client Arm64 Insider Preview (Dev) - Build 26080
Windows 11 Client Arm64 Insider Preview (Beta) - Build 22598

I chose the Dev one and it showed up that code.

For all those having issue, you likely installed the wrong VHDX file, use the specified link he provides after you register and it should work.

Very good tutorial and explanation very good for newer people that aren’t very much tech, I didn’t want to buy a pc just for games and i am not heavy gamer just casual, but like you said parallels is better option
