Beautiful.

For those who don't know the term "Katabasis" means a journey to the underworld. You see it a lot in mythology, someone has lost someone and they try to get them back.

This was such a beautiful short animation! Absolutely love the way the story was portrayed in such a unique setting!

For those who don't know, the scenery is based in the Isle of the Dead painting by Arnold Böcklin. Which also has inspired Rachmaninov to compose an entire sinphony out of it. Absolutely gorgeous animation!

This was amazing. I think it tried to portray grief and the self-destructive thoughts that came with it. If you see the boat at the end, it's indication that the island is representing the afterlife from greek mythology. In other words, after his mom's death, the protagonist was considering killing himself. When he found that god-like figure he finally accepted his mom's death and decided to move on and went back to the boat. This is just my rough interpretation though.
