👉 Learn how to determine the number of sides of a regular polygon. A polygon is a plane shape bounded by a finite chain of straight lines. A regular polygon is a polygon whose sides are congruent (equal). The interior angle of a polygon is the angle between two sides of the polygon. For a regular polygon, the interior angles are congruent (equal).

The sum of the interior angles of a regular polygon is given by the formula: 180(n - 2) degrees, where n is the number of sides of the polygon. Thus, given one of the interior angles of a polygon, say m, to find the number of sides of the polygon, we solve for n in the equation: 180(n - 2) = mn, where m is the given interior angle measure.

*Easier and shorter method:*

Each exterior angle of the polygon is 45*
All polygons always have exterior angles that sum to 360* so if n = the number of the sides of the polygon, then n x 45 = 360
n = 360/45
n = 8 sides.

you could just divide 360 by the exterior angle only works with regular polygons. Much faster.

Can you also subtract 135 from both sides then add 360 to keep it positive

if u know that to know one exterior angle, you need to do 360 divided by number of sides, so E= 360 divide N and if we want to leave the E out, then you switch the E and N. Now the equation will be N=360 divide E which means you do 360 times the exterior angle of the polygon and it will give you the answer
