This is the Fifteenth and final part in a series following the repair of a farm out-house, built in the late 19th Century. In this film I repair the roof and some top timbers and conclude the series.

I just want to thank you for this video series. I have been restoring my grandfather's log cabin that he built on our property 70 years ago. I've made significant progress, and this video series has been incredibly helpful. You're the most knowledgeable person on youtube when it comes to this stuff. I have a few books that I'm working off of, but honestly, what you've been putting out has been much more useful to me because I get to watch you do things. Reading about log cabin construction is different from actually watching someone do it.

What you said about people on youtube not understanding how hard this work is... I completely agree. It's been a year for me and I don't believe I'm much more than half way through the restoration. If I were paying someone like you to do this, I'm certain it would be around $50k in labor alone. This is hard work, and there's a reason most people don't build log cabins anymore. You've helped me out big time and for that I am extremely grateful. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience, I don't think I'd be able to do this restoration without all the information you've given us.

I would have paid for this video series, the fact that it's free is incredible. I really can't put into words how much I appreciate it, you have helped me save and restore my family's history and to me that's a greater gift than anything I've ever been given.

I really enjoyed watching your craftmanship, keep up the good work! Timber frames, as well as log cabins, also vary by region here in the USA. Also, to answer your question, that type of joinery is called a half-lap scarf joint. Lance...

Отличная работа и полезное видео. Спасибо. Такая же проблема у меня с небольшим домом. Протекла крыша и прогнил угол. Думал как лучше отремонтировать. Ответ нашёл в вашем видео.

great video like building a log house upside down to fix one, I would think this was bread and butter work for old time carpenters. The geometry of your axe is perfect for notching. Would you use the red falun mine paint to finish? cheers from Canada

Sorry to hear that you're starting to feel the years and work. But it is inevitable and better than the alternative. How much for a new camera? Maybe we can all chip in and bring that about for Christmas? Look forward to your next project!

Indeed a nice job Lucas. You said this was Raulandslaft. I assume there is plenty documentation on the different lafting techniques/types with pros and cons found in museums, historical associations, etc. But are you aware of any documentation video here on YT? With your eminent knowledge base it would be a major contribution if you are willing/have the capacity to compile such a video. Not only Norwegian/Scandinavian but also from other parts of the world.
