"John likes to eat with his friends in the evening" is a perfectly good sentence. I think you suggested that it was not.

Are you saying that "play" must have an object. No! It is transitive and intransitive. "Children like playing" is perfectly acceptable. If the verb is used transitively (play the guitar), then the object cannot be omitted. But when used intransitively, there is no object.

I want to go = I want I to go?
You say that this is based on "I want him to go".
You should say "I want me to go."
Then you have to explain that if "me to go is sentence", why "me" is as subject. The subject case is nominative (I).
I understand the point, but you did not explain it well.

I am pretty sure that the examples presented by the professor are not correct. This will confuse students.

"She teaches Japanese English" is a really bad sentence. I don't imagine English speakers saying this. This is because "Japanese English" means "the kind of English that Japanese people speak", or "English greatly influenced by Japanese." Note that "Chinese English" is often called "Chinglish, " i.e., the sort of poor English spoken by Chinese people. English speakers would naturally say, "She teaches Japanese people English, " or much more likely, "she teaches English to Japanese people."
