Cypriot Traditional Games - Tsiknopempti

Every year in Cyprus we celebrate the day of "Tsiknopempti" (free translation: Scorched or smokey Thursday). The equivalent day in other European countries could be Shrove Tuesday. In Cyprus we always celebrate this day on the Thursday of the second week of Carnival. During this day people cook meat on the grill and play traditional games. Our students had a great time playing games and eating "souvlaki", which is small pieces of pork meat cooked on the grill. The parents of our students helped in preparing the food for everybody.
