You could also add an ambient occlusion node and multiply it with the end result for the dust network to add some more realism to it, just know that ambient occlusion is quite weak in eevee and you might need a colorramp to make it visible.

is there a way to do dust in the wind with blender? Like, sand dunes with blowing sand

hey Ducky 3D. thanks for the tutorial. I was just thinking about this the other day after I saw what appeared to be dust on a different tutorial for wood floors and wondered how to go about making that. It's funny though that as you were going along I thought about adding noise before you mentioned it (although not to the extent that you went) so I'm glad I was on the right direction at least :)

I didn't make dust out of this but a camo pattern, thank you!

This is so awesome, thanks so much for sharing. adding white noise to alter the coordinates, I would have never thought of that.

NICE!!! That white noise node is going to be pretty nice!

This makes me want to make an add-on that causes forces (such as wind) to interact directly with MATERIALs and shaders.

what about the roughness value? shouldn't that be a factor when making dust?

I know you may have gotten that vector setup from me, but don't use it Ducky! It doesn't scale properly! Plug it into the location of the mapping node, and mix it with black. That being said, I would have never thought of using white noise like that. Very good job there.

Wow! When you explain it's looks so simple. But when I try to recreate it, I send hours trying to figure it out 🤦

I followed the tutorial exactly (incl. node wrangler) and it didn't work for me, so much so that I can't even determine where I went wrong. somewhere halfway through the texture went pink and it didn't get resolved by the time I added the texture node. I don't get it, I've watched two or three times and compared all the settings. Is there something changed between this and 2.9? :/

EDIT: Hmmm I think i ran into trouble by attaching the noise texture before I switched it to object, and blender didn't correct for the setting.
Not entirely sure, but food for thought if anyone runs into anyone runs into a similar problem.
