The Lunar Rover was a vehicle designed to transport astronauts and equipment on the Moon during the Apollo missions. It was developed by the Boeing company and was built to withstand the harsh conditions on the lunar surface.

The Lunar Rover was a four-wheeled, battery-powered vehicle that could travel up to 8 miles per hour on the Moon's surface. It was about 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 3 feet high, and it weighed about 460 pounds. The vehicle was designed to carry two astronauts and their equipment, including scientific instruments, tools, and samples of lunar soil and rock.

One of the key features of the Lunar Rover was its ability to fold up for transport to the Moon. The vehicle was folded and stowed in the descent stage of the Apollo Lunar Module, and it was deployed once the module had landed on the lunar surface. The Lunar Rover was controlled by a joystick and a set of hand controls, and it had a range of about 57 miles on a single battery charge.

The Lunar Rover played a crucial role in the success of the Apollo missions. It allowed astronauts to travel farther from their landing site than they could on foot, which allowed them to explore more of the lunar surface and collect more samples. The Lunar Rover was used on Apollo missions 15, 16, and 17, and it remains on the Moon to this day, serving as a reminder of one of humanity's greatest achievements.

This entire series is an excellent and fitting complement to the accomplishments of the Apollo missions.

Another masterpiece, once again as in "In the Shadow of the Moon" with the excellent music from Philip Sheppard, that alone makes it worth binge watching.

Great 16mm film and TV clips in this one! I don't think they mentioned that a 16mm film camera was used on the rover so they could film while driving. The TV camera was only operated after the rover was stopped and they aimed the antenna (except for a few seconds on Apollo 17 when they were moving the rover to its final location).
