Perpetual basically means never ending
A perpetual motion machine is basically a machine that moves in just the right way to were it will never stop making that movement
However if you try to harness that energy coming from the movement the infinit factor gose away

Perpetual is short for perpetual motion machine, it is an impossible machine because there is no way to make a self contained system that perpetually moves with no outside influence. Over time it will lose energy and slow down and eventually stop because it loses the energy to friction, sound, and heat.
