My grandfather is part of the security force of that nuclear test. My mother and my grandmother were on TRUK Island at the time and he had them relocated further away because they literally had no idea exactly how large that bomb was going to be.😮

The yield was miscalculated & essentially doubled to 15 MT because of the Lithium-7 they assumed would be inert, The lithium-7 supercharged the bomb in the end to put it as simply possible. "Radio Bikini" & "The Bomb" are great films that explain most of the tests in the Marshall Islands.

The theoretical upper end of any thermonuclear device is essentially very nearly at this level, Tzar bomba was of a greater yield but much of the fuel was destroyed during the initiation phase so they realized that a devise of that size simply was wasteful and impractical..
