“I Couldn’t See For 6 Months” #contactlenses

Показать описание
Wearing contact lenses while swimming is not recommended due to the heightened risk of eye infections. Water, whether from pools, lakes, or the ocean, can contain various microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and amoebae, that can adhere to contact lenses. When these microorganisms get trapped between the lens and the eye, they can cause serious infections, such as keratitis, which is an inflammation of the cornea.
One particularly dangerous microorganism is Acanthamoeba, commonly found in water, which can lead to Acanthamoeba keratitis—a rare but painful and potentially sight-threatening condition. Chlorine in pools may not be effective in eliminating all harmful pathogens, and natural bodies of water present an even higher risk due to the presence of various microbes.
Additionally, contact lenses can absorb chemicals and other substances in the water, which can irritate the eyes and contribute to discomfort or infection. For these reasons, it’s safer to remove contact lenses before swimming or use prescription goggles to protect your eyes while maintaining clear vision.
