Buying and testing tech from Facebook scam ads

I thought I might take a break and enjoy spending some of hard earned cash on some tech gadgets. Facebook is always throwing the cool ads at me and sometimes I find it hard to resist.

In this video, I splurged on a USB microscope camera, super fast RC car, and waterproof drone. At least that's what the ads claimed. For each, I test them against the video ad I purchased from to see how they perform. The results were interesting..

Normally I would link to the products here but I'm too nice to do that this time. All products purchased with my own money and all opinions are my own.

This video is hopefully entertaining but there is a message in here. Be safe online and wary of any ad or website that seems the slightest but dubious. You have very little chance of ever getting your money back if you get scammed.

The other month my Old Man bought a $89 inflatable Coleman hottub set off a Facebook ad. Normally they're around $1000 in stores. Instead of a hot tub they sent him a knock off pair of Ray Bans sunglasses.

And just this week a family friend said she ordered a really cool hoverboard off a Facebook ad and ended up getting a knock off pair of Beats By Dre Headphones instead.

I'm not sure but if I had to guess there's some buisness in China that has a bunch of knock off crap that they got too much of and can't sell so they put out ads for things people want and just send them whatever in hopes the people will just say screw it and not report them to Facebook. The site I was able to track down had no way to contact anyone, no way to file a complaint or get a refund. Total scam.
