I Won A Corvette Hiding a $30,000 ENGINE At AUCTION!

When I bought this Supercharged C6 Corvette at the salvage auction, I had no CLUE what was waiting for me under the hood..

As luck would have it, the engine alone is worth far more than I paid for the car, and it inspired me to take on a new challenge.. Build the fastest car I've ever owned, period.

Since the minute I sold my 1100hp Corvette ZR1 I've been itching to get back into a vette and it seems that the salvage auction gods blessed me on this Grandsport buy!

Check out the whole ScrapLife Family!

Have a wild Vette build story of your own? Maybe you've bought a totaled Z06 or ZR1 to turn into your dream car? Be sure to tell the story in the comments!

I think this car's had 3 owners. The first owner must have been someone with a lot of money and know-how to put it together. After that, someone else bought it from the original, who didn't know what they were doing. Most likely someone young. Now we have a scraplife guys and they can do it right.

Friend of mine bought a C6 off an auction. Page said it was a mechanical issue. He took a gamble and bid 7200 for it. Couple hours later he came back to check the sale was approved. Once the corvette arrived we saw how heavily modified it was and thought of the worst since the site had said mechanical issue. Turns out it was just the starter and the battery posts. The C6 came with a procharger in it. And in the car there were dyno pages showing it pushes over 800+ hp. This thing is a beast and is super loud. Unfortunately we live in california so it rarely sees the light of day. But it does love the darkness of the night.

I just discovered this channel today. I'm not necessarily a Corvette guy but I do appreciate big HP engines. Looks like that 427 is a real winner. There is a lot of good parts stuffed in there. Good job boys. It's a good feeling when you have that stroke of luck. Years ago, before internet, I found a 327 in Auto Trader. Just said needs rebuild. The price was right so I went to look at it. Turned out it wasn't just the long block. He had every part to rebuild it. And they weren't factory parts. All high performance. It also came with a powerglide and a brand new set of long tube headers. This was 1989 and I got everything for $400. I couldn't get it loaded in my truck fast enough. I was worried the guy was gonna change his mind. I ended up getting a different cam, oil pump, and had my machinest friend do some head work. I was less than a thousand bucks in that motor. It was brilliant. Loads of torque, sounded excellent. Not sure of the HP, but we estumated 450-475.

Im the original ower of that car, sad to see it in that condition but its in good hands with yall. and yes i did spend alot of money building it properly. The second owner was a 22 year old and he did alor of the shotty work. I sold this car to buy my dream car a 2013 inferno orange zr1 that i currently still own.

Calling a Mechman alternator “decent” is wild! They are one of if not best alternators out there!

That 19' is boss, only thing I think is missing is a good bass system. It's the last year before the c8, with front engine and rear drive. I'll keep supporting, because I love what y'all do.

What a find, one thing I did notice around 20:00 mark, that looks like the secondary drive system. So rather than most "flip drive" kits (which usually slip and cause voltage issues at WOT), it has a custom balancer with ANOTHER dedicated drive belt to the accessory jack shaft pulley separate from the belt that runs the AC compressor. So instead of 3 belts, it should use 4 belts total to drive everything. Just something to remember when its all going back together, I'm sure you guys would've noticed anyways.
