Oregon & California #36 & 37

July 4-13, 2024, we drove 1,349 miles

Atlanta-Portland, 5 hour flight
Day 1- Silver Falls State Park, 5 mile trail. Hotel in Eugene, OR and Voodoo Doughnuts too.
Day 2- Drive 2.5 hours to Crater Lake, Cleetwood Cove Trail, 2 miles and swimming in Crater Lake at the bottom. Scenic drive to CA and 106 degree heatwave. Beautiful sunset in Crescent City, CA.
Day 3- Crescent City, CA Matt and kids seeing the Pacific for the 1st time, tide pools, scenic drive to Fern Canyon, 1 mile trail. Prairie Creek Redwood State Park and the Big Tree loop- 3 miles.
Day 4- swimming in the Pacific at the swimming beach in Crescent City, visiting the marina, walking to Battery Point Lighthouse and more tidal pools.
Day 5- driving north on coastal hwy 101 to Secret Beach and Whaleshead Beach.
Day 6- a long 12 hour drive due to a detour from Crescent City to Rockaway Beach. Stops along the way- Face Rock Viewpoint, Thors Well.
Day 7- hanging out at Rockaway beach, date night, and a sunset beach fire.
Day 8- Ecola State Park and 3 miles on the Crescent Beach Trail.
Day 9- drive to Portland. Washington Park and the Rose Gardens.
Day 10- Portland- Dallas- Atlanta 6 hrs. 40 minutes
