In the 60's and 70's there was very little obesity among young people

I don't think Dr Chris Palmer is using exclusively a carnivore diet as a treatment to prevent or improve mental health. In all interviews with him I've seen he only stated he is using a ketogenic diet, so it's not necessarily carnivore diet. Actually I don't recall him ever mentioning carnivore diet in connection with his clinical trials. And, yes, he already had some success with his approach to treat some mental health diseases as a metabolic health problem.

I wonder how much healthy gut bacteria to brain connection is part of mental/psychological health. A lot more study needs to be done. I think the next several decades are going to reveal some direct and amazing connections between those two subsystems.

I am a Bill Maher liberal. I have never disagreed except on covid. We didn't know and as a student of history, Bill should have known we have been waiting for it since 1918 (not 1917 like trump always says). Covid was new and we overreacted a bit, but not a lot. I have emphysema and am just one yr older than him. Being careful saved my life and took one of my friends. I mask and vaccinate and it's not a big deal.
