Honestly dan I just want you to have a lift because you absolutely deserve it.

Why would anyone get upset with you? Personally I would deem it a privilege to call you Friend!

I love what you do Dan, and I love the cars you build! If I had some money and a place to put it, I would buy your old 47 Chevy in a heartbeat. You're only about 12 hours away from me, so coming with a trailer would be not a big deal. Unfortunately, the wife of 46 years is not into hotrods, so I get to live vicariously through you. Sell what you want, keep what you want, just keep doing what you do!

As someone who has moved shops twice, I can tell you now: whatever space you have, you'll fill. So, instead of focusing on how large to start with, I'd focus on having enough space to expand. Whatever you start with will undoubtedly feel huge at first, but it ALWAYS fills faster then you think it will. Ask ol' Mortske, he's dealing with it now himself.

Dan I think some people forget that this is entertainment with some really cool cars! You and Dani please just carry on with what y’all do

Your running a great show Dan. Don't let them get to you. Your humility and its just for fun attitude make hot rods approachable. Not everyone has a quarter million shop and tools with dream build budgets. Not all your cars or decisions are for me but its not my car. You do what you do very well and should be proud of making so many junkers respectable drivers again.

It's nice for everything you are working on to be parked inside. Just move from one car to the other as parts become available.

I like the way you build things. Its right up my alley! I like the fact that you mostly use what you have laying around or what you can scrouge up elsewhere (occasional buying new stuff) unlike others who spends thousands in all new stuff. You prove in every video that you don't need the fancy stuff in life to build a car.
You are the best and you have the bestest camera person ever! 🙂
I'd say don't change a thing.

Hey, you're a residential neighborhood garage hot rod shop. Too many people expect Discovery Channel results (big budgets, endless supply of parts, tools & equipment) which turns out hot rods in a half an hour. You two just keep doing what you're doing and us die hards will keep watching. As far as shop, make sure the side walls are tall enough to accommodate a lift. You gotta have a lift.

Ideally you want a shop large enough to keep all of your vehicles out of the weather ; but have a smaller heated partition (to save money on heating) to work through the winter

Your shop design idea with multiple doors on the long side gets my vote . Temporary dividers might be nice for dust containment if you get the urge to cut up another car or do some dreaded body work. Maybe the next time you decide to dissect a car you should consider wearing a goalies mask, Jason would be proud of you. Dani hide his cutting wheels

If you build a bigger shop you will definitely enjoy the space.

I think the Chiquita Banana doesn`t want you to sell her. After all, you rescued her from a certain rusty death. That`s the reason she`s been giving you so much trouble !!! LOL

50 years ago I built a 16x20 shop in my in-laws back yard to work on my race car. When my wife and I purchased a home of our own I. gifted the shop & equipment to my brother inlaw. He has made a living in that shop for 45+ years. It is no longer 16x20 it has grown as needed.

I like Brent's shop (Halfass Kustoms). Its doors are along the long side, but it's also got plenty of room for storage and tool bays along the back. Sleeperdude is another good one. Nice and spacious, but they both went tall, for a second floor area for other activities. You'd need at least one tall ceiling for a lift anyway. A small, cleaner room, with a half bath attached, would be good. It would be better for rebuilding carbs and full engines, to keep Bondo dust and metal shavings out. I admire Derek, he's made a great business out of his hobby, but he's also super busy. Doing what you love makes it worth it. Thanks for being you. There are enough "car shows" with huge, unrealistic budgets building things none of us can afford. I'm looking forward to seeing you in your new place. All the best to you both.

30x40 with 12' walls would work perfect for what you need-1 tall overhead door, 2 short overheads !!

Speaking from experience no matter what size shop you have it's never to big it will always be cluttered. I like a 30x40 with enough land to where I don't have to pay to store cars other places. I have been doing this for 40 years and have had shops from the size you have now to 10, 000 square feet, the key is organization if you can figure that out you have won.

You do a good job building cars. There always seems to be keyboard 'mechanics' giving car building advise who can't even change their own oil. Keep up the good work.
