Traps and shoulders respond well with explosive movement more than any other muscle that's why this exercise is a stable in my routine. I let the deadlift and farmer's walk take care of the heavy weight so i do snatch grip high pull with lighter weight but higher reps. Best exercise for traps hands down. I only started doing them around 2 months ago and you will notice the difference within first 2 or 3 times after doing this exercise plus it works your middle delts as well. Developing that part of the body makes you look good many people love bicep curl and i used to but now i am more in to that yoke look. Traps shoulders and mid back muscles. I did this exercise like 4 or 5 times a week after every workout i did 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps to get the pump and my traps responded, i noticed that ppl look at me and they never did before so only explanation is the traps lol😂 i love upper back ( traps) and shoulders

My favourite trap exercise by far. The catching action gives an incredible weighted stretch so you get more development with a lot less weight than say a power shrug or rack pull. No idea why you don’t see these being done more in the gym.

Added snatch grip deadlifts & high pulls on my hypertrophy day, these combined with front squats my upper back development is going crazy

No joke, my traps improved after doing this once.

I tried this once. I got a really nice pump, and i just tought "This is going to end tomorrow.". The next day i had the feeling of my traps and back being huge. After a day i still have the pump.

Fantastic movement, thought the "difference in 2 workouts" I kept reading was just hype, rar, no it isn't! Back on the attack after a year out, this exercise has given me a little extra spark of interest

It’s basically a cheating upright row that involves more traps as a result. If you’ve ever done power/hang cleans, you know they are amazing at growing the traps. This exercise takes the explosive pulling motion in the clean that grows the traps, and removes the catch, making it a lot more accessible to the average gym goer. A+ exercise.

He's doing this for shoulder and trap development, not for teaching the snatch.

@merikost No, it's not.
Upright row is a rowing motion
High pull is a pulling motion

When you row something you do it with your strength
When you pull something you do it with your explosiveness

Strength: Your ability to generate as much force as possible with no concern how fast you do it
Power: Your ability to generate as much force as possible as fast as possible.

This exercise built my upper back . Rarely train traps anymore due to how big they’ve become

Forgot how lethal this exercise is. Especially if you concentrate on the eccentric “catch”, your traps get absolutely torched.

Is this the "high pull" thibs talks about in his articles? One came out today

only watched to comment that example is not done quite right, but I'm sure he's trying. 1) bar touches body constantly ideally (low eight exercise) 2) bar only goes to just below chest 3) elbows go up, no rotation with hands and forearms angling up 4) no shrug. gl every one.

Legend has it, the guy in the black tshirt's breathing can still be heard, ghostly, in that old (now abandoned) gym, turning stomachs for the rest of eternity...

Is this exercise bad for people who are susceptible to tennis elbow??

the form only looks off because the weight is too light for him, with some lifts its quite easy to throw around the weight if its too low

inquiry what ratio would you say this lift is of Leg/Hip Drive vs actual Upper Body Pulling?
