The 5th logo (used from 1981 to 1993) to Columbia Pictures. It's the remastered widescreen version in high definition with vivid colors and byliness as the original logo that released in 1981.
Columbia Pictures is an American film studio, production company and film distributor. It's also a member of the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. Columbia Pictures was originally founded in 1918 by Harry Cohn, his brother Jack Cohn, and Jack's friend Joe Brandt. In 1982, Columbia Pictures was purchased by The Coca-Cola Company and launched TriStar Pictures as a joint venture with HBO and CBS and the film studio has become one of the major six American.

I like when it’s dark in my room the flash from her torch lights up my room!

I love this Columbia logo. Reminds me of the Gandhi biopic with Ben Kingsley. I find that movie awesome because it's about his life.

This same 1981 Columbia Pictures logo was seen at the start of the 1983 VHS release of Columbia Pictures Cartoons Vol. VII Starring Mr. Magoo.

💝As an inspiration from the CD's and the sissies over YouTube after the passing of my mother:
I will NEVER wish myself as 'toast',
I will wish myself as a woman....
Just like Ms. Columbia Pictures.❤

There’s a weird variant of this logo on Silverado (1985), since the 1.85 flat version of the logo is heavily cropped to the 2.35 ratio instead of the scope variant being used. In the scope version the columbia pictures text, the cloud background, and the torch lady are slightly zoomed out farther compared to the flat version.

Seen on films of the era. The 1st variation is much easier to come by, the 1st variantion is much easier to come by, due to being used a longer time period and being on more popular titles such as Cheech & Chong's Nice Dreams, Stripes, Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid, Karate Kid Part II, Stand by Me, and Miracle Mile. Notable films that have the short version are Ghostbusters II, The Adventures of Milo and Otis, Casualties of War, Awakenings, Mortal Thoughts, Mo' Money, A League of Their Own, Groundhog Day, and Lost in Yonkers; However, the logo made in cameo apparance in Last Action Hero (although the teaser trailer and TV spot had the logo, itself using the next logo) where Danny watches the preview Jack Slater IV in the local theater.
Originally, this logo was set to appear in Striking Distance (original title as Three Rivers) on May 21, 1993 to make one final appearance of the logo, unfortunately, it was pushed back to 4 months later to September 17 and it has the 1993 logo instead.

It is unknown if this logo appeared on theatrical prints of Winter People, The Last Emperor, Texasville, or The Taking of Beverly Hills, among possible others.

This same logo was one of the first de-facto video logos ever, alongside the 20th Century-Fox Video logo. It was seen on several CPHE and early RCA/Columbia releases from the era, like The Black Bird and Hard Times (themselves Columbia films), Love and Anarchy, The French Detective and One Sings, the Other Doesn't. Columbia releases by itself, as well as the VHS of Diana Ross in Concert skipped the logo and went straight to the Columbia logo used by the film.

Fun fact...the first film to use this logo variant was "Cheech and Chong's Nice Dreams"

This is used famously in Ghostbusters, but it was also in La Bamba too.

I would bet Oilers fans would recognize this iconic logo because of La Bamba.

This logo plasters that of Cinema 5 on the English-dubbed cassette of One Sings, the Other Doesn't, and also plasters older Columbia logos on post-1981 VHS re-prints of Gidget, Casino Royale, The Amsterdam Kill, Tough Guys, The Black Bird, and current prints of Tommy (1975 film). The long version of this logo had the last film, called "Miracle Mile" (1989). The short version of this logo was from 1989 to 1993. However, it was pushed back to September 17 and it has the 1993 logo instead. New Line Home Video releases (and later, MGM Home Entertainment) of Castle Rock Entertainment films such as Misery, City Slickers, and Mr. Saturday Night edit this logo out, though it is retained on the New Line VHS of Amos and Andrew. The MGM DVD release of Amos and Andrew has it plastered with the 1987 New Line Cinema logo, while the YouTube print on the Warner VOD channel had the New Line logo before Columbia's, but was taken off and is now on MGM's channel with it only featuring the MGM and Castle Rock logos. But the combo (minus New Line) was seen on the VUDU print of the aforementioned film, as well as an airing of the movie on Laff TV. The Columbia-Castle Rock combo is also preserved on a 1998 MGM Movie Time VHS release of Amos and Andrew, the German DVD of Misery, a 1997 MGM Movie Time VHS of City Slickers and the widescreen Laserdisc release of the aforementioned film retains this logo as well. This was also preserved on cable TV airings of When Harry Met Sally... and also appeared on the widescreen Laserdisc release of said film. Can also be seen on the Amazon Instant Video print of Late for Dinner (after MGM) and the Olive Films Blu-ray release of Sibling Rivalry (also after MGM). It also appears on the Vidmark and Starmaker VHS releases of The Shadow Riders (they used the overseas theatrical version, which is why this logo is seen at the start), along with the Trimark DVD (don't expect this on the 2006 Sony Pictures Home Entertainment DVD release, as it uses the original TV version). Preserved on the RCA/Columbia VHS and Laserdisc of Double Impact. It is unknown if the recent MVD Rewind Blu-Ray of the film retains this logo. This may be seen on international prints of Piranha II: The Spawning (AKA: Piranha II: Flying Killers). Don't expect this to appear on Weintraub Entertainment Group films that they distributed theatrically, with the exception of The Gods Must Be Crazy II, where a still Weintraub logo is seen at the end. The Australian Time-Life VHS and 2005 Australian DVD of The Adventures of Milo and Otis have this logo removed for unknown reasons (it's unknown if the original Video Selection Australia VHS used this logo). It was also seen on newer prints and the Blu-Ray of the English dubbed Theatrical cut of Das Boot (AKA: The Boot) in place of the first Triumph Films logo and proceeding the Neue Constantin Film logo.
