The lethal rate for UK strain is calculated based on the data from UK and US where the lethal rate for Covid 19 is still very high (that is if you believe their data). This does not mean that the mortality rate of the UK strain is going to be same in every country for eg India where Covid 19 mortality rate is extremely low. Australia has had the UK strain but no deaths. I think the mortality rate per country would be a more accurate statement rather than a general statement as voiced by this channel. But I suppose that is too much work for the news channels and it is easier to sensationalise what the going trend is. I still cannot understand why the death rate in UK and US is so high from Covid 19.
