IKEA at SouthBay Pavilion has Funky Elevators & Escalators

Schindler & ThyssenKrupp!! This place is very unique. Originally built as a Broadway this store was then converted into an IKEA!! That's right! A department store was converted into an IKEA. The DIY warehouse was added onto the building. We are looking at quite a unique store here.

As for the escalators, we have this funky entrance escalator set going from the ground floor the the third floor where the show room is located.

There are three public elevators in this store. The first one is an anti-scenic Schindler in a glass hoist way. It was modernized with Innovation Security fixtures by Performance Elevator. They are based in San Dimas (funny they came out all this way). The second elevator serves all three levels, but the lowest level is locked off. Here, is where you will find the second Performance mod. This is the elevator you take from the showroom to the marketplace, located on the second floor. This is unique to IKEA as the marketplace and warehouse tend to share the ground floor. The third elevator is right next to the second elevator. That's the one you take to the ground floor. This last one is a ThyssenKrupp. How did that happen?
The two Schindler elevators in the store are 300A, presumably with MT or RT fixtures originally.

Now that’s more funky than usual. My local Ikea has Schindler elevators all with Epco WN Signature fixtures and they are pretty basic. There’s even a freight elevator there but it’s almost always used.

I believe the old passenger and freight are still here as you can see them on google maps

It looks a lot like the IKEA at Broadway Commons on Long Island in NY and the one in Schaumburg, IL.

That’s pretty bizarre! I’ve never seen an IKEA like this. My local IKEA is rather basic, but very large. It houses ONE escalator (ThyssenKrupp) that goes upstairs, and two huge hydraulic ThyssenKrupp elevators (one being up only). They’re from 2007. The interesting thing about those is that they have the uncommon Traditional VR fixtures as well as the older traditional analog indicator. It also is dry powered but the motor is so quiet for such a large elevator!

Have you seen the elevator at my local IKEA Burbank, CA?

This place is so bizarre... All I could think was... those damned Swedes! (I'm 1/2 Swedish so I get away with that...) But then I read your description. So is this the Carson Mall or Shoppingtown Carson or whatever it's now called? In any case, what a cool repurpose!
