The lyrics is so hopeful, but his voice shows the fact that (in the episode) he was on the verge of tears, so it makes the whole version so sad and meaningful and perfect like he's asking Kurt to give him one more chance, to let him be again his 'Teenage Dream'. Okay gosh I'm really having the feels.

I swear, Darren straight up has one of the most beautiful voices ever to me, and this version of Teenage Dream is the perfect encapsulation of everything I love so much about it <3 It's not even a technical ability thing (though he's definitely really good technically too) - there's just such a bright, sweet, melodic quality in his tone, and there's something in how it's NOT 100% flawlessly trained and polished that makes it feel like the auditory equivalent of a big warm hug or something haha ^__^
